Buying in Spain

The parties in a Spanish purchase, and the order of the steps

Once you have found a property, several parties each do their own part: the selling agent, your own lawyer, the notary, the land registry, and where financing is involved the bank and its valuer. Each has a role and a timeline of its own.

Casa Connecta plays no role in the purchase process. Brokering sits with the estate agent, negotiation on price and terms with the buyer and the seller themselves, and money for the purchase runs through the notary or the lawyer. Legal review of a contract belongs with your own lawyer; the value of a property with a valuer.

How the steps run in practice, from the arras contract to the notary, is set out in the buying guide. If you want to establish whether the documents you have received are present, legible and current, that is what the Document Check does.
